Monument to democracy , bangkok



Memorial for Democracy Thai: อนุสาวรีย์ ประชาธิปไตย Anusawari Prachathipatai) Monument Assembly in central Bangkok, capital of Thailand, it occupies the traffic circle on the boulevard, east and large West Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang, at the intersection of the memorial is almost midway between the Sanam Luang, and the former royal burning ground in front of Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Golden Mount (Phu Kao Thong). The monument was commissioned in 1939 to commemorate the 1932 Siamese coup coup that led to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in what was then known as the Kingdom of Siam, by the military ruler, Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsonggram (named for the (Thai: ป.)
